Is the Canadian version of BORN INTO BROTHELS. it is the story of people making a difference in their communities. it is told in an anti-Michael Moore style that lets the people being filmed tell their stories. we get a boost with a visit by the mayor before he was elected and after, an oscar-nominated minority director who filmed in Canada's largest social housing Experiment that attracts 1000's of people to live in a multi-cultural pot full of strife, adjustment, gang warfare, people struggling to get a university education and those serving the community that is about to undergo a transformation of redevelopment. this is a living history with more dilemmas than an emergency room but these people who have an inner spirit that can't be stopped!! i tried to capture that over the course of two years.
